CreateSpace prints these sizes without any issues but have limited options for other sizes. Portrait  5.5″ x 8.5″  , 6″ x 9″ ,  6.14″ x 9.21″ , 7″ x 10″ , 8 x 10″,  8.5″ x 11″. They have other options but say that those sizes will not be eligible for bookstores or online retail.

What size should my children book be

Most books fro print are 32 pages or in multiples of 8 (for best printing/binding options) Each printer has a different setup but the industry standard size for printed books are 5.25″ x 8, 5.5″ x 8.5, 6″ x 9″, 7″ x 10″, 8″ x 10″, 8.25″ x 6″ and 8.25″ x 8.25″. When creating a book for print and ebook it is best to work with spreads as they convert better.

    Thank you for this explanation. At least now, I know what size to choose for my next children’s book. But what color combination do you think generally appeal to children visual sense?

      Bright colors are usually best for younger children but pastel color pallets work best for a watercolor softer look.

    This is a good visual for the structure and length of a children’s book. Other posts I’ve read on different sites only tell the page count. Being able to see a layout helps get the gears going in the right direction for putting together a children’s book. Couple this with knowing the target demographics and constructing a children’s book will be easier. Thanks for the tips and visuals.
