How to use the storyboard
- Start with a final, proofread manuscript.
- Reserve pages for the title, copyright, dedication, or author note before filling every page with story.
- Place one important story beat on each page or facing-page spread.
- Use page turns to conceal surprises, location changes, and emotional reveals.
- Keep art notes brief: describe what the illustrator cannot learn from the text.
- Read the mapped book aloud, then remove repeated or slow beats.

Why the template starts and ends with single pages
In a left-to-right printed book, odd-numbered pages appear on the right and even-numbered pages appear on the left. Page 1 opens alone on the right. Pages 2 and 3 form the first complete facing spread, and that pattern continues through pages 30 and 31. Page 32 closes alone on the left.
