Publishing Settings
When publishing, you’ll need two files: one for the cover (front + back together) and one multi-page PDF for interior pages. Most books require a .125" bleed on all edges, and all artwork should be 300 dpi or vector.
I do not collect personal data or run ads. I use Google Analytics for basic traffic stats. Form submissions are securely emailed via Formspree and never shared. YouTube videos are under Google’s privacy rules.
Your work is automatically copyrighted once created. To register formally, submit your compeleted book and/or manuscript to the Library of Congress.
All artwork I create is work-for-hire. You own 100% of the rights, and I provide a rights release letter. I only keep permission to show examples in my portfolio. No AI is used in the creation or production process.
Detailed descriptions (time, clothing, color choices) help. I also offer creative freedom if you’d rather leave the visuals to me. Minor revisions are included—major changes may require additional time/cost.
Rates depend on book size and detail. Typically $60 for spot art $99 single side $120 spread (across both pages). This includes sketches, revisions, layout, print/ebook files, and all rights. *Free covers for books needing 10 or more illusrations.
Occasionally, yes. Discounts are possible when I have downtime or for charities/nonprofits. Contact me for details.
Yes, I illustrate gift books as well. The process and cost are the same—you still retain all rights and can publish later if you choose.
Your book can be any size, though industry-standard dimensions often reduce costs and improve availability. Most are 8.5" x 8.5" spreads (artwork across both pages) with text integrated aesthetically. I’m flexible with the process and open to new ideas.
Most books take ~30 days. Sketches in 1 week, color in 2 weeks, plus time for revisions. Rush projects possible—let me know deadlines upfront.
I aim for high quality over speed, but if you have a hard deadline (book fair, birthday, publisher date), tell me before we begin.
Usually 50% deposit, balance on final approval. PayPal recommended for protection. Any other sites/methods (check, installments) available.
I’ve illustrated 300+ books over 20 years. I use PayPal, which guarantees refunds if agreements aren’t honored. References available upon request.
